Sorry for the long absence--the weather has been unexceptional, aside from a freak day where it rose to 3 C. Everything melted and got goopy and then it froze the next day and the wind picked up to 40-60 km/h, and it was very slippy. I suppose it was the perfect day for skating--and there have been others, even if the rink wasn't so omnipresent. The best weather for skating outside, imho, (esp. on the Canal in Ottawa!) is about -10 to -15 C---it's not too cold, and it's not too warm for the ice.

I suppose I'm winding my way back here because the windchill this morning was -34 C, but it didn't feel as cold as before. I've been wasting a lot of time at the gym, and apparently that increases blood circulation or something like that. So I generally feel warmer.

Also, folks weren't gripping about the cold today because it's the first day. Seems like we can hack it for a day or two, and then the chill starts to rankle or thrill, depending 'pon individual disposition.

Cheers
